It’s no secret that Anett Kontaveit has been on fire for the last two months. And that torrid tennis has taken the Estonian to a new career-high ranking. After claiming the Transylvania Open title on Sunday Kontaveit rises six spots in the WTA Rankings to No.8, becoming the first WTA player from Estonia to ever crack the Top-10.

Kontaveit’s success also ensures her 11th-hour qualification for this year’s WTA Finals Guadalajara, which will be held from Nov 10 to 17 in Mexico.

Here is the WTA Finals 2021 field:

1. Aryna Sabalenka, 4768
2. Barbora Krejcikova, 4518
3. Karolina Pliskova, 4036
4. Maria Sakkari, 3341
5. Iga Swiatek, 3226
6. GarbiƱe Muguruza, 3195
7. Paula Badosa, 3195
8. Anett Kontaveit, 3096

Career-High for Sakkari and Jabeur

Ons Jabeur didn’t qualify for the WTA Finals, but the Tunisian does get a small consolation – she rises to No.7 in the world, a new high for the Arab world. Maria Sakkari was inactive last week but she still rises to a career-high ranking of No.6.

Poland’s Iga Swiatek swings back into the Top-10 at No.10.

Tauson, Li and Kostyuk Pushing Higher

Danish teen Clara Tauson rises to a career-high 46 on the strength of her final appearance at Courmayeur, while American Ann Li (47) also hits a career-high.

Marty Kostyuk of the Ukraine, who defeated Emma Raducanu in the quarterfinals at Transylvania, climbs inside the WTA’s Top-50 for the first time at 50.
