John Peers and Andy Murray had the Bryan Brothers right where they wanted them. Five times. And yet it was the Bryans who emerged victorious on Thursday evening in London, 6-7(5), 7-6(5), 16-14 in a doubles rollercoaster ride for the ages.

The Bryans saved five match points, including four in succession from 9-5 down in the match tiebreak, and also saw four match points of their own go begging before finally converting their fifth. All the while there were patches of sublime shotmaking mixed in with some truly regrettable nervous errors (see John Peers' stunning miss on Murray and Peers’ fourth match point above).

The Bryans improve to 4-2 lifetime against Murray and Peers with the win. They also qualify for the semifinals in second place in the Ashe/Smith group and keep alive their hopes of finishing as the No. 1 team in the world for the eleventh time.

Rohan Bopanna and Florin Mergea took first place in the group, despite falling to Simone Bolelli and Fabio Fognini earlier in the day.
