Djokovic: Breaking Federer's Grand Slam Record Not Impossible

Novak Djokovic defeated Roger Federer in the Wimbledon and US Open finals and stands deadlocked with the 17-time Grand Slam champion at 21 wins apiece in their head-to-head series.

The world No. 1 believes he has a shot to surpass the Grand Slam king for most career major titles.

Djokovic, whose 10 career Grand Slam crowns puts him four behind Rafael Nadal and Pete Sampras and seven behind Federer on the all-time list, says he's motivated to try to break Federer's mark.

"Nothing is impossible. I have that kind of mindset," told the media in Shanghai today after he crushed Martin Kllizan. "I know that it's still a long way to break his record.

"But people even mentioning and talking about it, obviously it flatters me. I'm honored to have such compliments. But, you know, it's one of the things that motivates me to keep going, of course. I love this sport. I feel like there are many more years in front of me."

The 28-year-old Serbian, who has beaten Federer in their last three Grand Slam final meetings, joined Hall of Famer Rod Laver and Federer as the third man in the Open Era to contest all four Grand Slam finals in one year this season.

Djokovic believes he's at the peak of his powers now and aims to collect more Grand Slam silverware in the coming years.

"Hopefully if I'm able to sustain this level of dedication and level of performance, the way I play tennis, I think I have a good chance to compete for the trophy on any Grand Slam in the future," Djokovic said. "But, again, I'm at the peak of my abilities now. Just depends how far and how long I can go. I can't predict anything. But I've achieved a lot so far in my career. I feel like there is a lot more to come."
