A champion—on and off the court. Rafael Nadal joined with his fellow compatriots in a massive cleanup effort after flash flooding hit Mallorca on Tuesday night. The 17-time major champion was seen around his island helping out in any way he could on Wednesday, and he offered his tennis academy up to any displaced persons on the island that were in need of a place to stay.

At least 10 people died when a torrential rainstorm deluged towns including Sant Llorenç des Cardassar, about 40 miles east of the capital Palma on Tuesday evening.

Nadal took to Twitter to announce that his academy was ready to house anybody who needed it.

“Sad day in Majorca,” Nadal tweeted. “My heartfelt condolences to the relatives of the deceased and injured by the serious floods in San Llorenç. As we did yesterday we offer today the facilities @rnadalacademy for all those affected that need accommodation”

According to reports, some parts of the island received 23cm (9in) of rainfall in just four hours.

Tennis players sent their best wishes from Shanghai, with Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic chiming in. Federer sent this message via Twitter.

Djokovic also chimed in. “I want to send my condolences to everybone who lost close close people in their lives,” he said. “And I want to send my best wishes and strength and good energy to everyone to go through this.”

Reportedly there were about 50 people staying temporarily at Nadal’s academy.
