Second Serve

You have to hand it to Stefanos Tsitsipas—this is a player that leaves it all out on the court, for better or for worse. Today in Shanghai it was for the better as the Greek battles back in the second-set tiebreaker, saving two set points to defeat Karen Khachanov, 6-4, 7-6(8).

This incredible defensive point (see above: How did he get to that Khachanov dropper, and when he did, HOW DID HE DO SO MUCH WITH IT?) is a proper example of the stubborn relentless that Tsitsipas played the aforementioned tiebreaker with. Moments after this bit of brilliance, Tsitsipas dove for a volley and lay splayed on the court, with Khachanov holding a third set point and an 8-7 lead.

Surely he would be finished at that point, doomed to lose the set and potentially the match? No, Tsitsipas won the final three points to close out the match and book his spot in round three.

Another fine performance for one of the most thrilling breakout stories of 2018 is in the books.
