Bianca Andreescu and Simona Halep have joined Ashleigh Barty and Karolina Pliskova as early qualifiers for the WTA Finals at Shenzhen.

Andreescu, who improved to 35-4 on the season with last night’s win over Aliaksandra Sasnovich in Beijing, will make her debut. She is the youngest player to qualify for the season-ending championships since 2009 (Caroline Wozniacki).


Halep will make her sixth consecutive WTA Finals appearance.

The current Race to Shenzhen standings shape up as follows.


On the doubles side Gabriela Dabrowski and Xu Yifan became the fourth team to qualify, joining Barbora Strycova/Hsieh Su-Wei, Elise Mertens/Aryna Sabalenka, and Timea Babos/Kristina Mladenovic

The WTA Finals will tkae place from October 27 to November 3 in Shenzhen.
