The Spaniard didn’t face a single break point and converted breaks in the second and third set to knock off the third-seeded Vesely.
Martin Klizan rallied from a set down to race past Damir Dzumhur of Bosnia-Herzegovina, 4-6, 6-4, 6-0, to book a spot in his third career final. The 25-year-old Slovakian has won both of his previous finals in St. Petersburg (2012) and Munich (2014).
Klizan defeated Gimeno-Traver in three sets this February in Ecuador, which was their only previous tour-level meeting.
