Misaki Doi notched a spot in her first career final on Saturday when Belgium’s Alison Van Uytvanck had to retire due to viral illness after dropping the first set, 6-4. The 24-year-old world No. 92 had defeated Andrea Petkovic, Denisa Allertova and Jelena Jankovic in succession to snap a four-match losing streak this week in Luxembourg.

Her opponent in final will be Germany’s Mona Barthel. Barthel, who started her week by defeating 6th-seeded Sloane Stephens, will be vying for her fourth career title.

She defeated Swiss Stefanie Voegele, 6-2, 6-3, and also reached the doubles final by pairing with Laura Siegemund for a 4-6, 6-1, 15-13 victory over Kiki Bertens and Johanna Larsson. Barthel broke Voegele four times on five opportunities to win for the second time in three career tilts vs. the Swiss.

Doi and Barthel have never met at the Tour-level.
