23-year-old Viktorija Golubic upset third-seeded Kiki Bertens to claim her first career title at the Ladies Open Gstaad on Sunday, coming from a set down to triumph on home soil.

Golubic’s 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 victory earns her $43,000 and will move her well inside the WTA’s top 100 for the first time.

After dropping the final two games of the opener, Golubic rallied behind four breaks of serve against Bertens in the middle set to force a decider. Bertens was still struggling with the calf injury that has plagued her since her semifinal run at Roland Garros, and she only won 26 of her final 56 points on serve.

The Dutchwoman said the injury did not affect her during the final but had pulled out of doubles on Saturday to protect the injury from further damage.

Golubic converted all seven of her break points in the match, including two in the final set to get to the finish line before Bertens at the two hour and one-minute mark.

The Swiss had not won a Tour-level match since 2013 at the beginning of this season. Now she has earned her first win at a major and compiled a record of 9-4 on the season to push her career record to 11-6.

Bertens drops to 24-12 on the season with a title and two finals. The 24-year-old has won 16 of her last 19 matches.
