Haase hit six aces, won all 33 points played on his first serve and permitted just three points on serve in the 75-minute victory.

Earlier in the day, the 110th-ranked Monteiro wrapped up his 6-2, 6-4 upset of second-seeded Gilles Simon. Monteiro had built a 6-4, 4-3 lead on Thursday when rain suspended play.

Dustin Brown denied all eight break points he faced in a 6-4, 6-4, sweep of seventh-seeded Mikhail Youzhny. Brown hit six aces offsetting six double faults in a 72-minute triumph.

Advancing to his second straight quarterfinal, Brown will take on top-seeded Feliciano Lopez for a spot in Sunday's final.

The 34-year-old Lopez, who partnered Marc Lopez to the Roland Garros doubles title last month, talks about life after tennis in this video interview.

Lopez defeated 157th-ranked Swede Elias Ymer, 6-4, 7-6 (2).

Serving at 5-6, Ymer fought off four match points, eventually forcing a tie break before Lopez powered through into his third semifinal of the season.

"It was a tough match," Lopez told ATP World Tour.com. "He's a very talented young player and one of the young stars of the new generation that they are really pushing. The fact that I didn't win the second set 7-5 and he saved four match points shows you that. I was a little tight but then I played a very good tie break. Maybe there was a 10-year difference, but I try to be in shape to face those young stars."
