Serena Williams will not attend this year’s WTA Finals.

The 35-year-old 22-time Grand Slam champion made the announcement on social media late Sunday, saying that her right shoulder injury is still not healed.

“I’m really bummed that I won’t be able to come compete this year,” Williams said. “It’s been a really tough year for me. Just dealing so much with these shoulder injuries, my doctor insists that I stay home and heal it every single day.”

Williams has now shut down her season for the second consecutive year after the U.S. Open. According to WTATennis.com, she has played fewer matches in each of the last four seasons:

2013: 82 matches, 78-4 record, won 11 titles
2014: 60 matches, 52-8 record, won 7 titles
2015: 56 matches, 53-3 record, won 5 titles
2016: 36 matches, 30-6 record, win 3 titles

Williams’ absence from Singapore opens up another spot for a qualifier. Currently that spot is held by British No. 1 Johanna Konta, but Svetlana Kuznetsova and Carla Suarez Navarro can each overtake Konta by winning the title at Moscow this week.
