The sixth-seeded Vandeweghe will play either Wimbledon winner Garbine Muguruza or compatriot Madison Keys in tomorrow's final.
Vandeweghe swept Muguruza, 6-4, 6-0, in the Australian Open quarterfinals earlier this year.
The 24th-ranked American has dropped just 13 games in four tournament victories bursting into the final for the first time in five years.
Vandeweghe lost to top-seeded Serena Williams in the 2012 Stanford final.
"I'm five years older, and hopefully I'm more mature," Vandeweghe said. "I think (I'm) a little bit of a different tennis player. You grow and evolve as a tennis player and as a person, and I think especially in the last two years, it's been kind of clicking in that regard."
