John Isner won his first title in nearly two years at the Dell Technologies Hall of Fame Open, defeating Australia’s Matthew Ebden, 6-3, 7-6(4) in the final.

The American became just the second player to win an ATP title without facing a single break point, and he pounded 17 aces and only lost four of 41 first-serve points on Sunday.

Isner did not face a single player ranked inside the ATP’s Top 100 and Ebden, ranked 249, was the lowest-ranked ATP finalist since 2009.

Isner broke Ebden in his very first service game of the match and did earn another break point all afternoon. He won the second set in a tiebreaker, improving his tiebreak record to 26-15 on the season while boosting his overall record to 20-14.

Nine of Isner’s 11 career titles have come on American soil. His three titles in Newport match is best at any single tournament—he also owns three Atlanta titles.
