Andy Murray’s run as Queen’s Club champion came to a sputtering halt on Tuesday as the World No.1 was knocked off by lucky loser Jordan Thompson, 7-6(4), 6-2.

Murray saw his 14-match Grass winning streak come to an end, and he lost for the first time since 2014 at the tournament he was won more than any other player, ending a 10-match run at Queen’s.
Thompson, who has lost all four of his previous grass-court matches, struck 12 aces and saved all three break points he faced to hand Murray his first opening-round loss at Queen’s Club since 2006.
Thompson, ranked 90, snagged the first set tiebreaker, then made his big move with a break for 3-2 in the second set. From there he cruised, running off the final four games to claim his victory in one hour and 43-minutes.
Murray wasn’t the only favorite to go down on Tuesday. No.2-seeded Stan Wawrinka and No.3-seeded Milos Raonic each fell.
Fourth-seeded Marin Cilic is the highest seed remaining in the draw. He leads John Isner by a set and break at the moment.
