It has been 16 years since Venus Williams won her third Miami Open title – Maybe it’s time for another?

The 36-year-old American is the oldest player in this year’s Miami Open draw and she’s very much still alive after darting past No.7-seeded Svetlana Kuznetsova 6-3, 7-6(4) in Monday’s night session at the Crandon Park Tennis Center.

Williams leveled her lifetime record against the Russian, also a former Miami Open champion (2006), to 5-5 and set up a quarterfinal clash with World No.1 Angelique Kerber on Wednesday in Miami.

Kerber breezed past Japan’s Risa Ozaki, 6-2, 6-2, breaking the 22-year-old’s serve six times on 13 opportunities.

Williams only surrendered one break and won 78 percent of her first-serve points to claim victory in one hour and 35 minutes. Williams improves to 13-3 on the season and 60-13 lifetime in Miami.

The quarterfinals are now set in Miami, and No.3-seeded Simona Halep will be joining the party. The Romanian, who won back-to-back matches for the first time this season at Miami, made it three in a row by bouncing back from a set and 5-2 down against No.14-seeded Sam Stosur.

Halep’s victory sets up a quarterfinal against No.10-seeded Johanna Konta. The British No.1 powered past Spain’s Lara Arruabarrena in straight sets to improve to 16-3 on the season.

Here’s the full quarterfinal lineup from Miami:
