The sixth-seeded Kohlschreiber broke serve four times and won 16 of 25 points played on the left-hander's second serve in a 67-minute conquest.
Three-time Munich champion Kohlschreiber raised his tournament record to 31-10, joining top-seeded Alexander Zverev, Jan-Lennard Struff and Maximilian Marterer as one of four Germans into the last eight.
The left-handed Marterer pulled off the biggest upset of the day toppling third-seeded Diego Schwartzman, 6-4, 6-2.
Marterer denied all 10 break points he faced in an 89-minute victory that propelled him into a quarterfinal meeting with Marton Fucsovics, a 7-6 (5), 6-1, victor over Marco Cecchinato.
The 34-year-old Kolschreiber will take on Roberto Bautista Agut for a trip to his sixth Munich semifinal.
The second-seeded Spaniard won 31 of 35 first-serve points carving up wild card Casper Ruud, 6-4, 6-3, in 76 minutes.
Bautista Agut is bidding for his third title of the season following hard-court triumps in Auckland and Dubai.
The 14th-ranked Bautista Agut has won two of three meetings with Kohlschreiber.
