The 28-year-old World No.12 defeated Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-3 6-3 on Friday to reach the semifinals at his hometown tournament for the fourth time. Nishikori is looking to break a run of 46 consecutive events played since winning a title—he is a two-time Tokyo champion, winning the event in 2012 and 2014.
