Things are heating up significantly in Shanghai, and quarterfinals are set in Tianjin and Linz as well. Let’s have a run through the numbers to prep for what is sure to be a blockbuster weekend of tennis on those three cities.

14 Number of consecutive sets that Novak Djokovic has won since the beginning of his Tokyo run. The World No.1 and four-time Shanghai champion eased past John Isner in straight sets on Thursday, losing just eight points on serve in the 74-minute contest.

32 Number of winners struck by Dayana Yastremska against 2016 Tianjin champion Peng Shuai on Thursday. The Ukrainian is into her fifth quarterfinal of the season and will face Veronika Kudermetova for a spot in the semis.

40 Number of victories that Dominic Thiem has earned in 2019. The Austrian (40-15) has earned 40 wins in four consecutive seasons after his 6-3 6-4 victory over Nikoloz Basilashvili on Thursday in Shanghai.

1 Number of Masters 1000 quarterfinals reache by Matteo Berrettini. The Italian delivered a clutch 7-6(5) 6-4 victory over Roberto Bautista Agut to boost his chances of qualifying for the Nitto ATP Finals in London.

87 Number of Masters 1000 quarterfinals reached by Roger Federer after the Swiss maestro saved five set points in the opening set and defeated David Goffin 7-6(7) 6-4 on Thursday. Two-time Shanghai champion Federer improves to 47-7 on the season and he’ll face Alexander Zverev in the quarterfinals.



100 Number of points that Kiki Bertens can gain the Race to Shenzhen standings with a title at Linz. The Dutchwoman is currently 65 points behind Serena Williams for 8th in the standings. Bertens, the top seed, will face Coco Gauff in the last eight on Friday at Linz.

8-1 The current 2019 record of Citi Open doubles champions Coco Gauff and Caty McNally (AKA McCoco) after the pair notched a 7-6(4) 6-4 victory over Laura Siegemund and Katarina Srebotnik to reach the Linz semis.

100 By strength of reaching the quarterfinals at Linz, Gauff is slated to make her Top 100 debut next week.

26-3 The record of Russia’s Daniil Medvedev since he returned to the hard courts in July. Medvedev defeated Vasek Pospisil 7-6(7) 7-5 to reach the quarterfinals at Shanghai in Thursday. The ATP’s win leader in 2019 improves his overall record to 56-17 on the season and he will bid to reach his sixth consecutive final since the run began at the Citi Open. Since then Medvedev has been runner-up at the Citi Open, reached the final at the Rogers Cup, won Cincinnati, reached the final at the US Open and won St. Petersburg.
