Here's a look at the quarterfinal matchups:

Join us for a By the Numbers preview of the last eight at the 2023 Shanghai Masters:

1 – Number of Top-10 seeds remaining in the draw. Only 5th-seeded Andrey Rublev has gained safe passage into the last eight.

2 – Two Americans are into the quarterfinals at Shanghai, but only one will reach the semis. First-time Masters quarterfinalist Ben Shelton will face Sebastian Korda.

3 – Number of first-time Masters 1000 quarterfinalists – Fabian Marozsan, Ben Shelton and Nicolas Jarry.

4 – Shelton took out No.4-seeded Jannik Sinner for his second Top-5 win and best career win by ranking.

5 – Fifth-seeded Rublev has won all six sets he has played in Shanghai. The Russian is the highest remaining seed.

6 – Alcaraz’s loss to Dimitrov leaves the Spaniard at six titles in 2023. The 20-year-old misses a chance to pick up critical ranking points in the race for the No.1 year-end ranking. Djokovic now leads Alcaraz by 2,240 points in the live rankings.

7 – Casper Ruud fell to 7-4 lifetime in Masters 1000 quarterfinals when he was defeated by Hungary’s Fabian Marozsan on Tuesday.

8 – Marozsan, the lowest-ranked player remaining in the draw, has won eight of the nine sets he has contested.

16 – Humbert has compiled a 16-7 record since Wimbledon. The Frenchman was 9-13 in his first 22 matches of 2023.

21 – Shelton, 21 this week (Oct 9), is the youngest player remaining in Shanghai. The American is the youngest quarterfinalist in Shanghai Masters history.

25.5 – Average age of the eight quarterfinalists.

29 – Number of tiebreaks won by Hubert Hurkacz in 2023. The Pole has played 53 tiebreaks this season. He leads all ATP players in both categories this season.

Hurkacz has won all three tiebreaks he has played this week in Shanghai.

32 – Dimitrov, 32, is the oldest player remaining in the draw.

65 – Marozsan is slated to reach at least 65 in next week's ATP rankings, and could go higher with a quarterfinal win over Hubert Hurkacz.

91 – Marozsan is currently ranked 91, lower than all remaining players. He was 173 at the end of last season and is the first Hungarian to ever reach a Masters 1000 quarterfinal.

2017 - Shelton vs. Korda is the first all-American Masters 1000 quarterfinal since 2017 Cincinnati.
