Novak Djokovic opened his 2014 tennis season by sweeping the Mubadala World Tennis Championships in Abu Dhabi, as the 26-year-old notched victories over Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the semifinals and then took out David Ferrer 7-5, 6-2 in today's final.

With new coach Boris Becker looking on, Djokovic overcame an early break deficit to defeat Ferrer in dominant fashion to earn the $250,000 purse in the winner takes all exhibition.

Djokovic has not lost since the 2013 U.S. Open. The World No. 2 bookended titles in Beijing, Shanghai, Paris and London with four Davis Cup singles triumphs in the final three months of 2013, and his winning streak currently stands at 24 matches (26 if you count this week's exhibition).

In the consolation match, Rafael Nadal took out Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, 7-6(5), 6-3.

The World No. 1 will open his ATP season in Doha where he will face Lukas Rosol in the first round of the Qatar Open. Nadal was famously defeated by the Czech at Wimbledon in 2012 in five sets in the second round.

The ATP season opens in full force this week with events in Doha, Brisbane and Chennai taking place, while the WTA will open at Brisbane, Shenzhen and Auckland.
