(May 14, 2010) Serena Williams continues her quest to complete a single-season Grand Slam at the French Open this month, but could the 12-time Grand Slam champion soon shed her single status?

Rapper/actor Common, Serena's long-time boyfriend, told talk show host Ellen DeGeneres yesterday he's ready to get married and start a family when asked if he would marry Serena.

"I definitely want to get married. I would love to get married and have kids," the 38-year-old Common, who shows up to support Serena at her matches when his schedule permits, told DeGeneres.

"Serena's a great woman. She's a beautiful woman and an incredible person," Common said. "Actually I gotta give her some love because she and Venus are number one and number two in the world right now."

The 28-year-old Serena rarely talks about her relationship with Common, who described their relationship as "evolving."

"Actually, Serena and I have been close for about two years. It's been evolving," Common, whose real name is Lonnie Rashied Lynn, Jr., told DeGeneres.

Though he's not a tennis player himself, Common says watching Williams at work can be an intense experience.

"I sit there, and I'm just tense... and people try and talk to me, and I tell them to be quiet," Common told DeGeneres. "I was sitting next to Richard Branson and I didn't pay attention. I don't care who is there. I'm focused on this tennis match."

Both Venus and Serena are involved in long-term relationships. Which Williams sister will marry first? Voice your views on the Tennis Now forum.
