Roger Federer (July 11, 2013) -- Despite often taking several weeks off after Wimbledon in years past, Roger Federer is changing up his summer schedule.

Federer is now ranked at No. 5 in the world for the first time in over a decade. Though he has  used the post-Wimbledon period to spend time with his family away from the courts, Federer's decision to pick up the racquets again so soon may be due to his recent surprise loss in the second round of Wimbledon to Sergiy Stakhovsky.

Federer recently announced that he signed up not only to play in Hamburg, Germany, starting on July 15 but then the following week in Gstaad, Switzerland. The Swiss native talked about his fond memories of that home event in a Twitter message.

Hamburg, which is now an ATP 500 event, has been a good place for Federer over the years. Federer won the title there four times with his last appearance being in 2008. Gstaad is where Federer received a cow during a homecoming celebration in 2003 after having won Wimbledon that year. He won the Gstaad title in 2004.

The win/loss record for the former No.1 this season currently stands at 27-8 with his lone title coming in Halle a few weeks ago. Federer currently stands in sixth place in the "Race to London" standings for the end of year ATP Tour Finals in London.

After Hamburg and Gstaad, Federer will take a brief break before beginning the North American hard court season at the Rogers Cup in Montreal.
