Top seed Agnieszka Radwanska delighted local fans as she made a winning debut at the BNP Paribas Katowice Open in Katowice, Poland.

Playing in only her third career WTA event in her home nation, Radwanska faced off against Czech Kristyna Pliskova in her opening round match.

Saving two break points while serving up five aces, Radwanska easily claimed the 6-3, 6-2 victory.

The current World No. 3 Radwanska is making her tournament debut in Katowice. She did play two prior WTA events in Poland, both in Warsaw in 2006 and 2007. Poland's top player made her main draw WTA debut at the 2006 Warsaw event.

"The BNP Paribas Katowice Open is my third WTA tournament back home in my career and I must say that I'm really excited. I still have vivid memories of my first ever WTA main draw event at the Premier event in Warsaw in 2006," Radwanska said to WTA.com. "So my tennis career really began in my home country and I'm thankful for this opportunity."

Vinci, Cornet Advance into Second Round

Defending champion and No. 2 seed Roberta Vinci made easy work of qualifier Ksenia Pervak. Despite dropping serve once, Vinci soon walked away with a 6-3, 6-3, win.

Other winners on Tuesday included No. 4 seed Alize Cornet and No. 5 seed Klara Koukalova formerly known as Klara Zakopalova.
