Top seed and defending champion Mikhail Youzhny will face a familiar opponent in the Credit Agricole Suisse Open Gstaad quarterfinals. The Russian has won at least one ATP title six out of the last seven years. But this week Youzhny seeks to defend a title for the first time in his career.

ATP: 17-Year-Old Borna Coric Reaches Umag Quarters

Youzhny opened up his title defense with a second round 6-3, 6-4 win over France's Kenny de Schepper.

That result pits Youzhny versus the man he beat in last year's final Robin Haase.

Haase himself needed three sets against Swiss wildcard Henri Laaksonen. Though Laaksonen fought off a match point late in the final set, he eventually fell to Haase 6-4, 1-6, 7-5.

Haase won his most recent meeting against Youzhny earlier this year in Bucharest.

Troicki Reaches First Quarterfinal of Year

After enduring a year-long suspension, Serbia's Viktor Troicki is making the most of his wildcard appearance in his first tournament this season. Troicki defeated Andrey Golubev 6-3, 6-4 to reach the last eight in Gstaad.

The former top 20 Troicki saved six out of seven break points and only needed 67 minutes to seal the win.

Next for Troicki will be the winner of the match between No. 4 seed Fernando Verdasco and Jan-Lennard Struff. Rain suspended that contest at 1-all in the final set.
