Statisfaction: Rafael Nadal's Barcelona Domination

Rafael Nadal will bid to win his ninth straight Barcelona title and improve upon his personal 39-match winning streak at the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell this week, opening his campaign Wednesday afternoon against Spaniard Albert Ramos.

We took a quick peek inside the numbers of Rafa's eight-year run at Barcelona to get an idea of just how dominant the Spaniard has been at this event.

Nadal Has Not Lost in Barcelona Since 2003

As a 16-year-old wild card, Nadal suffered a round-of-32 loss to Alex Corretja, 3-6, 6-2, 6-1, and apparently he didn't take too kindly to the defeat. Since that loss, Nadal has reeled off 39 consecutive decisions in Barcelona and he's dropped only two sets.

Nadal's Current Run of Consecutive Sets is at 39

Since dropping a set in the 2008 final to David Ferrer, Nadal has gone into ambush mode on the Barcelona clay. He has won 19 matches in a row, all in straight sets, and he has only been taken to two tiebreakers (one by David Ferrer in the 2012 final, and one by Benoit Paire in the round of 16 last year) during that time. Rafa has won a total of 230 games, while only dropping 94.

Nadal Has Never Lost a Tiebreaker in Barcelona

The Spaniard has been forced into four tiebreakers at Barcelona, and he's never dropped more than four points in any of them. In 2005, Juan Carlos Ferrero won four points in a second-set breaker vs. Nadal, but since then nobody has managed more than two points in a breaker (Almagro, 2006, Ferrer, 2012, Paire, 2013).

Nadal has served 8 Bagels and 10 Breadsticks in Barcelona

Though Nadal has never notched a double-bagel victory in Barcelona, the Mallorcan has served up 8 bagel sets, including three in the last two years, and 10 breadstick (sets where the opponent wins only one game) sets.

Nadal has never been bageled in Barcelona, and his only breadstick set loss was to Corretja, in his only loss in 2003.

The Three People to Have Gone The Distance with Nadal in Barcelona Are...

Alex Corretja d. Nadal, 2003, R32, 3-6, 6-2, 6-1
Nadal d. Jarkko Nieminen, 2006, QF, 4-6, 6-4, 6-3
Nadal d. David Ferrer, 2008, F, 6-1, 4-6, 6-1

The Only Problem? All that trophy biting can't be good for Nadal's teeth....
