Former Charleston champion Jelena Jankovic squandered a match point in the second set, but recovered for a 6-1, 6-7 (6), 6-1 triumph over Tatjana Maria.

Afterward, JJ revealed she calls her mom, Snezana, for some solace after tough losses. Mom isn't always sympathetic, joked JJ. "It's your own fault, I told you to get up early! Or go to bed early!" joked JJ mimicking her mother's response.
