Cincinnati and how Djokovic is dominating the ATP World Tour Masters Series
This week all eyes are on the seventh ATP World Tour Masters tennis tournament at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Cincinnati, Ohio also known simply "cincy". You will see the best field of tennis players this week and nine of the top 10 in the 2011 professional rankings. Novak Djokovic just captured a record fifth ATP TOur Masters 1000 event last week in Montreal beating the top american seed and most hopeful for this years US OPEN, Marty Fish. Fish has been playing well on the Olympus road to the Open series and has a few wins and good showings under his belt.
Two men currently share the 6 Tour Masters 1000 titles this year so far and those are Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal with Djokovic leading 5 to 1 over Nadal. Although Roger Federer is the defending champion in Cincinnati and has won it several times, Novak Djokovic is on a hot streak and has a lot of momentum going into this tournament.
The US OPEN is just around the courner and it will be interesting to see what happens this week in Cincinnati. If Nadal or Federer can have a good showing I think this could help in preparation for the Open. Federer avenged his loss over Del Potro and can move through the early round safely.
It appears that there will be a strong field of players heading into the open this year and you never know what could happen when you get players like Nadal, Djokovic, Federer playing well. Although I would like to see Mardy fish have a competitive run, he might be outplayed by the big boys pretty quickly if he gets a top player early on.
