Not only is Not only is Roger Federer the defending Wimbledon champion and the No. 1 ranked male player in the world, he's also once more the game's top overall earner.

Forbes Magazine recently released its list of the world's top entertainers and athletes, and Federer is the easy victor among tennis stars, pulling in $54.3 million between July 2011 and July 2012.

Just $9.3 million, about 17%, of Federer's earnings came on the tennis court. He earned an additional $45 million from advertisers, exhibitions and by making appearances. His biggest check comes from Nike, who pays the 17-time Grand Slam champion more than $10 million to wear and use its products.

Finishing a distant second to Federer in total earnings among tennis players for the past 12 months is Rafael Nadal, who pocketed $32.4 million, $25 million of that in sponsorship and appearance money.

Maria Sharapova is third on the list, earning $27.1 million, a queen's portion of that from her eight-year, $70 million deal with Nike.

Novak Djokovic is fourth, with $19.8 million and Li Na, a surprising fifth at $18.4 million.

The remainder of the Top 10 over the past 12 months, in order: Serena Williams ($16.3 million), Caroline Wozniacki ($13.7 million), Andy Murray ($12 million), Victoria Azarenka ($9.7 million) and Andy Roddick ($8.8 million).

Among the top 10, only Azarenka and Roddick earned more on the court than off it. Azarenka, who has been No. 1 for a majority of the 2012 season, made $6.7 million on the court and $3.0 million off it, while Roddick, who has fallen out of the top 20 on the tour, earned just $800,000 on court while racking up $8.0 million off of it.

On the overall list of athletes, Federer ranks fifth, trailing only boxer Floyd Mayweather ($85 million), boxer Manny Pacquiao ($62 million), golfer Tiger Woods ($59.4 million) and basketball player LeBron James ($53 million). the defending Wimbledon champion and the No. 1 ranked male player in the world, he's also once more the game's top overall earner.
