Andy Murray and Wife Kim Expecting First Child

Andy Murray will add a new title to his name. Father.

The two-time major champion and his wife Kim Sears are expecting their first child in February. That's according to multiple UK media outlets, including The Sun, which initially broke the story on Thursday.

Murray's camp later confirmed the news to UK journalist Stuart Fraser.

Murray and his longtime girlfriend Sears recently married in April in Murray's hometown of Dunblane, Scotland. Sears, after receiving the news during a routine medical checkup, told family and friends a few weeks ago.

The news comes a day after Murray's surprise loss in the second round of the Citi Open in Washington, D.C. in a three-set defeat to Russia's Teymuraz Gabashvili.

Murray said recently that he and Sears were considering having a baby. In his autobiography, "Seventy Seven: My Road to Wimbledon Glory," Murray joked that having two Border terriers felt like raising kids.

Also in the book, Murray wrote about Sears, “Kim’s always been there for me. She really cares about me and helps with so many things. She always has. That’s why we have such a great relationship.”

Murray's coach Amelie Mauresmo is also expecting her first child due this August.
