Video: Ivo Karlovic Whiffs on Overhead, Wins Point Anyway


During his four-set loss to Nick Kyrgios on Day 3, Ivo Karlovic turned an embarrassing overhead whiff into a shot at redemption. It wasn’t pretty but it was pretty awesome. Karlovic completely bonks his first chance, but has the presence of mind to authoritatively swat the ball for a winner after it bounces.

There’s a lesson in all this: Don’t let your pride get in the way of your game. And: If you miss an overhead, be sure you miss it so bad that you don’t even touch it on the way down.
