Video: Leander Paes Makes Mind-Blowing Behind-the-Back Volley in Mixed Dubs Semis



There’s a reason that Martina Hingis chose Leander Paes to partner her in this week’s Australian Open mixed doubles competition: Because he’s incredible! That’s really all one needs to say about the 14-time Grand Slam champion (eight doubles, six mixed).

This behind the back volley is hands-down the best shot of the tournament (sorry all you singles players). The man is an absolute magician. He’s Edward Scissorhands with a tennis racquet. He's a freakishly gifted phenom that seems to never get old.

Anyhow, we digress.

Paes's first-time partner, Hingis, also going for her 15th career major title (5 singles, 9 doubles), teamed up with the wizard to notch a 7-5, 6-4 victory over Su-Wei Hsieh of Taiwan and Pablo Cuevas of Uruguay. They will next square off against Kristina Mladenovic and Daniel Nestor in the finals.
