Video: Sharapova Stars in Head Ads
Maria Sharapova
is a double presence at the Australian Open.
The reigning French Open champion is both a competitor and commercial presence Down Under, appearing in a pair of TV spots for her racquet manufacturer, Head.
The world No. 2 joins top-ranked
Novak Djokovic
and
Calvin Hemery
in trying to forge inspiration out of frustration. The three Head players are featured in the brand's new game-raiser ad.
The black-and-white commercial shows the trio trying to use the 90-second changeover to manage emotions and refocus before returning to court.
“If you are in a frustrating moment when sitting on the bench you want to say so many words to yourself telling you how bad you are playing - but that is not helping," Sharapova said. “You have only 90 seconds so I rather use them looking forward and give myself a few words of motivation and confidence. There is always the opportunity to change the game around before the last point is played.”
In a commercial promoting her Head Instinct racquet, Sharapova explains why the racquet resonates with her and describes her style as "quite aggressive and quite powerful. I like to move forward and finish points closer to the net."
