Andy and Jamie Murray are back in business.
The brothers Murray played their first match since 2016 and came through a tight affair to defeat Nicolas Mahut and Edouard Roger-Vasselin 6-4 6-7(7) 10-5.
The Murrays could not capitalize on three match points in the second set and then fell behind 5-2 in the match tiebreak—but they rallied impressively to win the final eight points of the contest to advance to the second round at the Citi Open.
This Citi Open marks Andy's third doubles event since returning from hip resurfacing surgery. He won the title at Queen's Club with Feliciano Lopez and lost in the second round at Wimbledon with Pierre-Hugues Herbert.
The Murrays will face the No.3-seeded tandem of Raven Klaasen and Michael Venus in the second round.
