Both the ATP and WTA Tours plan to lower prize money at tour events for the remainder of 2020, according to Chris Clarey of the New York Times.

The exact figures aren’t completely clear, but Clarey says that the WTA could be looking at an 18 to 32 percent reduction in prize payout when tennis resumes this summer, and on for the rest of the 2020 season. The men will make similar cuts, Clarey wrote.

"Both tours have struck deals with tournaments to reduce prize money this season to compensate for the expected loss of revenues from ticket sales and sponsorships. Simon said the reductions on the WTA Tour ranged from 18 percent for low-level international events to more than 32 percent for top-tier Premier Mandatory events like Madrid. The men’s tour will flip that model, with its Masters 1000 events making smaller prize money reductions proportionally than lower-tier events."

This should put extra onus on players to show up at the US Open and Roland Garros. The US Open will payout about 91 percent of its 2019 prize payout, with a great majority going to singles players.
