Del Potro announced his withdrawal on Twitter.
The 30-year-old del Potro joins 17-time Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal, suffering a right knee injury, in withdrawing from the second Masters event of the season.
Del Potro missed the Australian Open in January recovering from a knee issue. The fifth-ranked Argentinean has played one tournament this season, reaching the Delray Beach quarterfinals last month.
