After reaching his first career quarterfinal at the BNP Paribas, Aussie Bernard Tomic has been forced to pull out with a back injury which sends Novak Djokovic into the BNP Paribas Open semifinals via walkover.

Tomic had fought past David Ferrer and Thanasi Kokkinakis in three sets in his last two rounds to reach his first career Masters 1000 quarterfinal. The 22-year-old Aussie has reached six of seven quarterfinals in 2015.

Djokovic advances to the semifinals where he will face Andy Murray. The Serb is bidding for his fourth Indian Wells title and his 50th title overall.

Djokovic owns a 16-8 edged against Murray including a win in January’s Australian Open final. The world No. 1 has taken five straight from the Scot.
