Second Serve - A Tennis Now Blog

Second Serve

Darren Cahill posted a second set of impressive Roland Garros practice videos on Thursday, with the most recent feature highlighting the work of Andy Murray and Grigor Dimitrov. Watch as taskmaster Roger Rasheed teams up with Murray (video above) at the net to put Dimitrov through some good old 2-on-1 drills.

Video: Federer and Dimitrov Do Some Sparring on Chatrier

Things get really exciting at the 2:10 mark when Dimitrov turns on the jets to track down a Murray volley that no mere mortal would have any business making a play on. Somehow, Dimitrov makes the lob, which Murray retrieves and sends back to the Bulgarian, at which time the trio exchange shots for another 20 seconds before Dimitrov rifles a highlight-reel put-away smash that is absolutely mind-blowing.

Also of note in all of these videos is the pitch perfect volleying of Roger Rasheed. Such minimalistic volleying, and he never misses!

In the video below, Dimitrov and Murray work a "change of direction" drill that once again highlights the incredible shape that both are in. Not every shot is perfect, but the sheer pace on some of the balls, and the non-stop motion of the drill, is just amazing.

At the very bottom we get a chance to see Murray, who is one of the best in the game at hitting passing shots, work the baseline with Dimitrov and Rasheed manning the net. Just delightful stuff from Darren Cahill--great instructional videos for those who want to learn, or just great entertainment for fans who want to see the best in the game practice at close range...
