Ana Ivanovic earned the WTA's shot of the month honors for September with this nifty lunging backhand volley against Angelique Kerber in Tokyo. It's the third time that Ivanovic has won the monthly award. Did she deserve it? Or was it the fact that Ivanovic is wildly popular and well-liked by everyone that got her the votes?

From our perspective she deserved it, with Zhang's improvisational short-hop and Cornet's reflex volley a close second.
