Eugenie Bouchard’s US Open has come to an end. The Canadian star, who was experiencing a revival in New York, has been forced to withdraw from her round of 16 match, sending Italy’s Robert Vinci into the quarterfinals.


Yesterday Bouchard pulled out of her doubles and mixed doubles matches, citing a head injury suffered in a locker room fall. Today, according to US Open Radio, Bouchard arrived at the site wearing a hoodie and dark shades and did not look great while walking. She had a practice court reserved for 3:15 and for 4:00. According to USA Today’s Nick McCarvel, she arrived at the site at 3:30, but did not use the court.

The official statement from US Open tournament director David Brewer was short and sweet: “Eugenie Bouchard is withdrawing from the women’s singles competition at the 2015 US Open due to a concussion,” it said.
