Del Potro: Novak Can Surpass Roger, Rafa

NEW YORK—Juan Martin del Potro knows what it takes to knock off Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal in Grand Slam play.

Del Potro made history becoming the first man to defeat Nadal and Federer in succession in a Grand Slam en route to the 2009 US Open title.

After bowing to Novak Djokovic in tonight's US Open final, del Potro said the 14-time Grand Slam champion can surpass 20-time Grand Slam king Federer and 17-time major title holder Nadal in the all-time Grand Slam race.

"Of course he can," del Potro said of Djokovic, who joined Federer as the second man to win Wimbledon and the US Open back-to-back in three different years. "He has 14 already. He won two Grand Slam in one year. He's healthy. He has a great team working with him. Hopefully him, Rafa, Roger is still fighting for Grand Slam, because is so nice to watch them fighting for the history.

"I mean, we just do what we can against them. But Novak has everything to make records in this sport."
