Davis Cup: France Wins to Reach Final | Italy Holds Off Switzerland For Another Day

With the U.S. team holding a 2-0 lead entering the second day, it was up to the recent US Open champions to seal the win. That they did with little trouble against the team of Norbert Gombos and Martin Klizan.

In just 76 minutes, the Bryans cruised to a 6-1, 6-2, 6-1 victory.

That clinched a 3-0 win for the U.S. putting them back into the World Group for 2015.

"Yeah, it was one of our better Davis Cup performances because I felt we were hitting in all facets of the game. Started feeling good in practice early in the week, and carried that onto the match court, which was nice. Didn't really have any difficulty out there. Just thought we started hot and just kept it up, kept our energy high," Bob Bryan said afterwards.

The match ended just short of tying the mark for the most lopsided doubles victories in U.S. Davis Cup history. The fewest games lost by a U.S. Davis Cup doubles pair is three, accomplished twice by Wilmer Allison and John Van Ryn, in 1936 and 1929.

"The guys fought hard and prepared very well. We played well. We played well when we needed to. It was a very, very good weekend for us," Captain Jim Courier added, "Still have a little bit of clean up tomorrow, which we'll look forward to. For now, it's a time to feel good about the way the week has gone."

John Isner and Sam Querrey are expected to play in dead singles rubbers on Sunday to complete the tie.
