Sabalenka saved three to defeat Caroline Wozniacki early in the day in the second round, but she was later defeated by Elise Mertens, who saved one in the second set before defeating her 2-6, 7-6(1), 6-0.

5

Number of Top 10 wins recorded by Stefanos Tsitsipas in the last two rounds in Toronto. The Greek will try to make it three on Friday when he faces Alexander Zverev in the quarterfinals. He owns a lifetime record of 5-9 vs. the Top 10.

If Tsitsipas wins on Friday he’ll become the youngest player to record three wins against the Top 10 at one event since Rafael Nadal achieved the feat at Monte-Carlo in 2006.
