The kids are making waves at the Moscow River Cup in Russia. Lucky Loser Olga Danilovic became the firs player born after 2001 to reach a WTA quarterfinal on Wednesday when she engineered a 7-6(3), 7-5 win over No.8-seeded Kaia Kanepi, and hour later 2016 Wimbledon Girls’ Singles champion Anastasia Potapova became the second when she upset Kristyna Pliskova, 6-4, 6-4.

Both players entered the week with just one WTA victory to their name.

Potapova saved nine of eleven break points to get past World No.96 Pliskova, winning in 1:32 despite a 44 percent first-serve percentage. The Moscow resident will face 25-year-old Russian qualifier Valentyna Ivakhnenko next.

Danilovic, from Serbia, will face top-seeded Julia Goerges after her victory over World No.49 Kanepi.

Goerges battled past Russia’s Natalia Vikhlyantseva, 6-2, 7-6(2) to improve to 31-14 on the season. Goerges clocked 27 winners against 18 unforced errors and saved seven of eight break points.

Ivakhnenko defeated Russian qualifier Varvara Flink, 7-6(2), 6-3.
