Keeping up with the game of tennis, by the numbers. Each day at Tennis Now we’ll give you a fresh set—without any further ado, here’s what the numbers say on Day 1 of Wimbledon.

103

Roger Federer’s 6-1, 6-3, 6-4 win over Dusan Lajovic was his 103rd match at Wimbledon, which sets the Open Era record for men. Federer is 92-11 all-time at SW19. On the women’s side, Venus Williams also played her 103rd match, but it ranks fourth all time behind Martina Navratilova (134), Chris Evert (111) and Billie Jean King (110).

150

The initially believed speed of a massive serve hit by Gael Monfils on Day 1. It would have broken the all-time Wimbledon fastest serve record (148, Taylor Dent, 2010) but it was later ruled that there was an error with the radar gun that was working the match.

115

Fastest serve struck by Serena Williams over the course of her 7-5, 6-3 win over Arantxa Rus. By comparison, Williams hit a fastest serve of 124 against Angelique Kerber in the 2016 Wimbledon final.

50

Percent of unreturned serves fired by Marin Cilic in his Day 1 victory over Yoshihito Nishioka. The Croatian fired 21 aces and only 37 of his 74 serves came back. Cilic saved all five break points he faced. 31 of Cilic’s 46 (67 percent) first-serves were not returned.

0-5

The career record of Croatia’s Donna Vekic against the Top 5 before she broke through and upset Sloane Stephens on Day 1. She’s 1-5 now.

5

Number of first-round losses that Stan Wawrinka has suffered at Wimbledon, but the Swiss avoided the loss today by taking out No.6-seeded Grigor Dimitrov in four sets for his biggest win rankings-wise since coming back from knee surgery. Wawrinka improves to 18-14 lifetime at Wimbledon and 6-9 on the season. The World No.224 will face Italian qualifier Thomas Fabbiano in round two.

36

Number of aces fired by Ivo Karlovic and Gilles Muller on Day 1. They share the Wimbledon lead in aces after one day. Muller beat Michael Mmoh in five sets while Karlovic defeated Mikhail Youzhny in four.

0-5

The record of China’s Zhang Shuai at Wimbledon after her three-set loss to Andrea Petkovic on Day 1. Zhang is 14-20 at the other three majors, combined.

831

Number of consecutive weeks that Svetlana Kuznetsova has been ranked inside the WTA’s Top 100, per WTA. That is quite a long time. Unfortunately for the Russian, that streak will end after Wimbledon. She was defeated by Barbora Strycova on Day 1.

93

Number of times that Ivo Karlovic used serve-and-volley as a tactic on Day 1. The Croatian came to net after 93 of his 130 serves put in play.
