It’s been a wild week of tennis (so far) at Zhuhai, Basel and Vienna, and the best has yet to come. So let’s go inside the numbers to look at the first four days of the week and preview this weekend’s action.

73 Number of wins that Roger Federer has earned at the Swiss Indoors Basel in his 18 main draw appearances. Federer (73-9 lifetime) is into the semifinals after news broke that Stan Wawrinka has pulled out with a bad back.

23-3 Federer’s lifetime record against Wawrinka. Roger has won seven straight against the Stanimal and he has never lost to Wawrinka on a surface other than clay. Federer is also 5-0 against Wawrinka on indoor hard including a win over Stan at Basel in the semis in 2011.

9 Number of deciding sets that Frances Tiafoe has now lost in succession after falling to Wawrinka 7-5 in the third on Thursday. The American has been snakebitten in deciding sets since the beginning of the Internazionali BNL d’Italia in May. He is 6-15 in three-setters on the year.

13 Number of ATP quarterfinals that Stefanos Tsitsipas and Roberto Bautista Agut have reached, which leads the ATP Tour in 2019

6 Number of return points that Reilly Opelka won in his first-round victory over Cristian Garin in Basel. The American set the record by becoming the first player on record to win an ATP-level match with less than eight return points won.

2570 Number of Race to London Points that Matteo Berrettini has accrued this season. The Italian is currently in eighth in the Race to London standings and can add 180 points by defeating Andrey Rublev in the quarterfinals on Friday at Vienna.

2530 Roberto Bautista Agut’s point total. The Spaniard, currently ninth in the Race to London standings, can add 90 points with a victory over Opelka on Friday. He will move ahead of Berrettini if he can outperform the Italian’s result this week.

40 Roberto Bautista Agut’s victory over Richard Gasquet means that the Spaniard is the ninth ATP player to hit the 40-win mark in 2019.

56 Number of aces struck by American’s Reilly Opelka this week in Basel. The 22-year-old World No.37 is now just 43 aces from 1,000 and just 50 aces behind current 2019 ATP ace leader John Isner.

1-4 Dominic Thiem’s lifetime record against Fernando Verdasco after the Austrian earned his first career win over the Spaniard in Vienna on Thursday.

7 Number of consecutive wins notched by Russia’s Andrey Rublev. The Moscow champion will go for No.8 on Friday againt Matteo Berrettini.

4 There will be four maiden semifinalists at the WTA Elite Trophy in Zhuhai. Kiki Bertens has already qualified and all remaining players in contention have never reached the semis at this event before.
