It was another exciting day of tennis in the Principality, and the round of 16 is nearly set at the Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters. Two second-round matches – Holger Rune vs Sumit Nagal and Grigor Dimitrov vs Miomir were shut down due to rain on Wednesday, but Thursday's forecast looks clear in Monte-Carlo.

With that in mind, let’s look back at the second round and look ahead at the round of 16 By the Numbers, shall we?

See the full Monte-Carlo Draw here:

7 – Jannik Sinner stretches his new winning streak to seven victories with a 6-1, 6-2 thumping of American Sebastian Korda. The Italian continues to run hot in his breakout season, he’s on the heels of winning his second Masters title at Miami, and he improved to 23-1 on the season.

43-3 – Sinner’s record since last September! He will face German’s Jan-Lennard Struff on Thursday.

2015 – Novak Djokovic has not won a title in Monte-Carlo in nine years, and the 24-time major champion has not been beyond the quarterfinals since 2015, when he won his last title. Last year Djokovic fell in the round of 16 to Lorenzo Musetti – the 36-year-old will seek his revenge on Thursday when he meets the Italian for the 5th time (3-1 lifetime).

6 – Number of career Top 10 wins recorded by Alexei Popyrin after the 24-year-old took out defending champion and World No. 6 Andrey Rublev 6-4, 6-4 to set a round of 16 clash with compatriot Alex de Minaur.

16-3 – The lifetime record of Stefanos Tsitsipas at Monte-Carlo. The Greek dropped just one game against Tomas Martin Etcheverry on Wednesday (6-1, 6-0) as he set a round of 16 clash with Alexander Zverev. 2021 and 2022 champion Tsitsipas has now reached at least the round of 16 at every clay court Masters 1000 event he has played since the start of 2021 (10 in total).

100 – Number of Masters 1000 appearances Gael Monfils has made in his career. Making his first Monte-Carlo appearance since reaching the final in 2016, the Frenchman fell to Daniil Medvedev 5-2, 6-4 on Wednesday.

23-0 – Medvedev’s record against players ranked outside of the Top 30 since losing to Adrian Mannarino at ‘s-Hertogenbosch last June.

1998 – The last time an American man has defeated a Top 2 talent on clay. Sebastian Korda had a chance to change that today against No.2-ranked Jannik Sinner, but could manage only three games as he fell to 1-10 lifetime against the Top 5.

The last American man to defeat a Top-2 player on clay? It was Michael Chang, who defeated Pete Sampras in Rome in 1998, if you’re scoring at home.

1 – By reaching the second round, Sumit Nagal has become the first man from India to ever win a match at Monte-Carlo. He trailed Holger Rune, the No.7 seed, by a set, when rain intervened on Wednesday.

10 – Last year’s runner-up Rune must complete his win over Nagal on Thursday – and win again in the round of 16 – or the Dane will fall out of the Top 10 for the first time since January 2023.
