(May 27, 2011) For the second time in 24 hours, the French Open proved that no high seed is safe.

Argentina's Gisela Dulko, ranked 51st in the world, knocked eighth-seeded Samantha Stosur, the 2010 French Open runner-up, out of the competition on Friday with a convincing 6-4, 1-6, 6-3 victory.

The victory is enormous for Dulko, who is more highly regarded for her doubles' capabilities.

But it was just as important for Stosur, who will lose 1,240 points off her ranking and plunge out of the Top 10 after being ranked fourth to start the season.

It's Stosur's earliest exit from Roland Garros since falling in the second round in 2008, when she was ranked 149th.

Dulko's sharp first serves proved the difference, as she won 75 percent of points on her first delivery, compared to just 55 percent for Stosur.

The players were even on five breaks and three double faults, although Dulko was better and more frequent at the net, converting 11 of 17 approaches.

It was Dulko's first win over Stotsur in three tries, having previously lost to the Australian in Madrid both this year and last.

The Argetine entered the French Open on a three-match losing streak, but is now 13-8 on the year as she moves into the fourth round to face either Marion Bartoli.

This effort ties Dulko's best at a Grand Slam singles tournament. She reached the fourth round of the French Open in 2006 and the fourth round at the 2009 US Open.

The victory was her first against a Top 10 player since she beat No. 8 Victoria Azarenka in the second round in Stuttgart in 2009.
