Gulbis Smashes Racquet "For a Fan"
By Chris Oddo
(March 11, 2013) --
It appeared that
Ernests Gulbis
smashed this racquet out of frustration during his 5-7, 6-3, 6-4 third-round victory over
Andreas Seppi
at the BNP Paribas Open, and that may indeed be true. But Gulbis came up with his own version of what happened when he did a television interview after the match.
"The guy just asked me before the match if I can break a racquet and give it to him, so I was just being friendly," he said.
Lucky fan, is all we can say about that. Gulbis will face
Rafael Nadal
in the fourth round.
