(June 28, 2011) After pulling up with what appeared to be a foot injury against Juan Martin del Potro on Monday, Rafael Nadal announced Tuesday that he is fit to play his quarterfinal match tomorrow.

Before the first set tiebreaker against del Potro, Nadal called out the trainer to treat what seemed to be an injury in the ankle area of his foot. He later said that he felt a “crush” in his foot, and he worried that he may have injured it severely.

"I felt (like) I broke my foot at that moment,” he said on Monday.

Fortunately for the World No. 1, he said the pain decreased as time went on. After a nearly 10 minute injury timeout, Nadal returned to win the tiebreaker and, two and a half hours later, the match.

After the match, he went for an MRI exam, and the results came back negative for any damage.

"During the match I thought I had something serious but as the match went through the pain got better and thankfully the tests don't show an injury," Nadal said Tuesday in a statement.
"Today I will practice at 4:30 p.m. and I'll play tomorrow."

Nadal takes on Mardy Fish in their sixth career match tomorrow. The Spaniard has a 5-0
record against the American, and has lost only one set to him in those matches.
