(March 1, 2012) When you're hot you're hot. And the No. 1 seed at the BMW Malaysian Open most certainly is hot.
Due to rain-suspended matches the previous day, world No. 5 Agnieszka Rawanska was forced to work double duty in stifling conditions at the Bukit Kiara Resort in Malaysia's capital, finishing off her suspended match against Akgul Amanmuradova, which she won 6-2, 6-4, then overcoming 19-year-old Czech Karolina Pliskova, 6-4, 6-4.
Now that she's through, sore shoulder and all, Rawdwanska can enjoy a brief respite before taking on Taiwanese qualifier Su-Wei Hsieh in the quarterfinals.
"Playing two games is tough, especially in these humid conditions," said the soon to be 23-year-old Rawanska. "I've not had much rest as I've been playing for several weeks now."
No. 2 seed Jelena Jankovic had an easier time of it as she blasted past American veteran Jill Craybas 6-2, 6-0 in sixty-five minutes, a perfect remedy for the sweltering heat.
No. 3 seed Shuai Peng also advanced to the quarterfinals with a three-set win over Kristyna Pliskova, while No. 4 seed Jarmila Gajdosova was bounced from the draw 6-4, 6-0 by Eleni Daniilidou of Greece.
Others advancing to the final eight were Olivia Rogowska of Australia, who upset No. 7-seeded Jelena Dokic, and No. 6-seeded Ayumi Morita of Japan, who defeated Misaki Doi.

(1) Agnieszka Radwanska vs. Su-Wei Hsieh
